Choice of Home Lifts
So, the first thing to know about installing a home lift is that you don’t need to know how to actually do the installation. Our professional lift technicians will have that covered: they will meet with you at your earliest convenience, and help you to decide about what kind of lift you need installed, which specific model you need and the options you want.
Why Choose a Duo?
The main reason to choose the Duo home elevator is if you need 1 or 2 standing persons to be able to travel between two stories in your house.
The Duo is very compact, the most compact in the world of its kind, yet it can handle up to two standing adults and still be able to fit just about anywhere in your home, even in a closet.
So, if you don’t really need the lift to carry more than 2 people at a time and you don’t use a big walking frame or wheelchair, the Duo will work fine for you.
Why Choose a Trio?
The Trio is a larger, heavier lifting residential elevator than the Duo. The main reasons to choose a Trio over a Duo are if you need to accommodate up to 3 passengers in a single trip, or 1 passenger and some heavy luggage or cargo. Also, the Trio can handle your wheelchair, and will have no problem accommodating a person using a walking frame.
Although the Trio is bigger than the Duo, it doesn’t mean it is huge. It is still one of the most versatile and compact designs in the world and will fit most anywhere you might want to have it installed. The Trio, like the Duo, travels between two floors.
Both the Duo and Trio come in three variants:
The Classic has solid sides, a single door and is the basic Duo/Trio model.
The Vista employs clear structural polycarbonate panels, allowing light into the lift and presenting a more open appearance. This variant also has a single entrance/exit.
The Thru-Car has 2 entrances/exits opposite each other and is very useful when you need to enter on one side on one floor and exit through the other side on the other floor. For instance, this 2-door approach will be very useful the exit for another floor must be on the opposite side of the lift, such as when the lift is in the stairwell with the upper landing being located away from the lower floor entrance of the lift.
How are the Duo and Trio installed?
The Duo and Trio have a very similar design; the main differences are just passenger capacity and size. Both types of elevators use a dual-leg freestanding system that allows them to be installed without any concern as to how much weight your home’s structure can support.
The two legs bolt to the bottom floor, the second floor that they pass through, and the ceiling in some cases. This dual leg design supports the total weight of the lift and its passengers and requires a minimum of work required for the building. Also, any standard electrical receptacle that can support 13 amps is sufficient to keep the batteries in the lift charges, so there is no need to install any special high-powered electrical circuits.
In some cases where there is a loft, balcony or staircase open and accessible, there doesn’t even need to be a hole created in the floor to allow the lift to travel through. These is also no need to install any elevator shafts or separate machine room for the Duo and Trio lifts. These home lifts are self-supporting and have freestanding designs with the gearing, compact motor and drive components tucked away in the top of the lifts.
Installing them is as simple and fast, which may only take 2-3 days from start to finish and costs much less than other options on the market.
